CT DMV ENFORCEMENT SWEEP REMOVES 110 VEHICLES FROM ROADWAYS

WETHERSFIELD -- Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) inspectors removed 110 commercial vehicles from the road for safety violations during a recent 72-hour enforcement sweep.

DMV Commissioner Tony Guerrera announced the results as part of the agency’s efforts during International Roadcheck – an annual truck and bus safety enforcement blitz that takes place throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.  International Roadcheck focuses on educating the trucking industry and the public about the importance of safe commercial motor vehicle operations.

“Our Commercial Vehicle Safety Inspectors work to keep our roadways safe throughout the year,” Commissioner Guerrera said.  “This 72-hour sweep highlights the important work they do and I commend them for their efforts.”

During this enforcement sweep, DMV law enforcement personnel also conducted 344 inspections and found 1,140 violations for a total of $96,347 in potential fines. Connecticut State Police joined DMV during the event and completed 78 inspections for a total of 422 across the state.

Interational Roadcheck took place May 13-15, 2025, and is coordinated by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance.  The event is the largest targeted enforcement program on commercial motor vehicles in the world, with nearly 15 trucks or buses inspected, on average, every minute across North America.
